MICHAEL SMITH
THEATRICAL SOUND DESIGNER
AUDIO CONSULTANT
Michael serves as an Associate Professor of Performing Arts at Elon University in North Carolina. He has been a designer in the theatre for over 20 years. His credits cover professional and academic theatre and extend to television, multimedia, scenery and lighting design. Recent regional credits include sound designs for And In This Corner Cassius Clay and Judy Moody and the Mad Mad Mad Treasure Hunt for the 2017 and 2018 Childrens Theatre of Charlotte, A Christmas Story for the 2017 production as Mill Mountain Theatre, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, Circle Mirror Transformation, and Unnecessary Farce for the 2014 Nebraska Repertory Theatre season and Miracle on 34th Street (Children's Theatre of Charlotte). His Sound Design credits at Elon University include original music compositions for Much Ado About Nothing, Cloud 9, Macbeth and Love's Labours Lost. Prior to his arrival at Elon University, he designed sound for the School of Theatre at Florida State University where his work included Sound Design for the pre-broadway and Broadway productions of Prymate. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family, fishing, and being outdoors.
